Animals are neither innocent nor guilty — they cannot play by the rules of social contract that give rise to moral behavior. Your view is ignorant of neuroscience, evolutionary biology and other science which defines the very existence of life on Earth. Many animals have what we humans perceive to be free-will though modern neuroscience is calling into question the very nature of free-will itself and do shit things to other animals for fun.
I refer to other intelligent organisms such as Chimpanzees, Dolphins and Elephants, whose behaviour is similar to our own. Our cognitive sentience is not exclusive to humans — Executive function is not an exclusively human function.
Is that it? Is that the only thing you think of with animal testing? That animal testing is nothing more than a sadistic drive to inflict suffering on healthy animals? You are deluded, probably constructing a scenario in your head to fit around some pre-existing belief. I love animals, and always have. But I understand animal testing to be a necessary evil, for the good of all of us. Tens of millions of lives of humans and other animals have been saved due to the knowledge gained from animal testing.
Many of these medical breakthroughs are used in veterinary medicine also, and have saved countless animal lives. There are stringent measures in place to ensure the suffering is minimal. You might do much more good for the world by trying to avoid harming humans and other animals rather than trying to cure them only!
A recap: First, PETA recruited a well- intentioned, yet surprisingly uninformed actor as a participant. Share this:. Like this: Like Loading Pet food is full of meat. Do the math. Wade, your opening argument is ridiculous. They CAN however eat healthy flesh. ANd indeed maggoty animals however are usually saved I have treated maggot ridden humans before… A.
Where do you think veterinary medicine to treat your cat comes from? Your knowledge of biology is lacking. Humans ARE animals. Because of animal testing we have: — a rabies vaccine — typhoid and cholera vaccines — a treatment for rickets — medical insulin — blood transfusions — modern anaesthetics — polio vaccine — heart transplants — kidney transplants — asthma inhalers — chemotherapy for leukaemia — meningitis vaccine — canine distemper vaccine — modern antipsychotic medications the list goes on and on Many of these medical breakthroughs are used in veterinary medicine also, and have saved countless animal lives.

How can we love all when we watch the innocent cry and suffer. Be a better Hunan and protect the ones that ate still enslaved. The ones that love unconditionally and have no idea why we hurt them.
Make this a better place. Which is incredibly frustrating. I agree with helping animals and stopping torture but they need to be more mature and organized about how they are running organization. They would get more support that way. Have you taken more seriously.
That is vile. They have an open shelter, with no restrictions on which animals they take in. There are 20 similar shelters in the state, with no restrictions. PETA kills 13 times the number of dogs as the average shelter in Virginia.
They kill 6 times as many dogs as the average open shelter, with no restrictions. For a highly funded non profit that clames to love animals, there is no reason to kill this many animals. Extremism in all forms should be recognized for what it is. Help stop animals from being mistreated in the fur industry and at John Hopkins university.
Look it up. Sheep are sheared for their own health and comfort even when the wool is thrown away! It astounded me that they could get away with it. Even if the ad was eventually pulled they did damage. There were companies proudly declaring that they would now use only synthetic wool! Great, more micro plastics in the ocean! Wool is a renewable, biodegradable resource. Now I know that everything they say could be an outright lie.
They are totally untrustworthy and, in my opinion, have discredited undercover animal rights activists who shine a light and tell the truth. Hi Tanya, thanks for commenting.
All activists are sick people, that hit extremist ways to gain what they want. Help animals by yourself. However, I think just focusing on the bad and not showing light on the good is… immature?
Yes, puppy mills are an atrocity, but there are many very respectable dog breeders around the world. Give them credit for their work. But think of it this way. Like a pugs squished snout and long soft pallet preventing proper breathing.
Crate training can be a good thing if done properly! It can be used as their safe place or time out if implemented correctly.
But dogs are smart creatures! Do you have children? Have you ever had to ground them to their bedroom for getting in trouble? Or do they like their privacy and want to be alone? I see it as something similar.
Just the fact that it can be very beneficial to them! If done correctly! Their wool never stops growing and gets incredibly heavy and hot. Some bleeding is bound to happen, not from the sheering, but just from the wool pulling at their skin. Think of how much more comfortable the sheep are once sheered properly though. This can be a very touchy subject, I understand. ONLY if the vet recommends it as well. All I ask is that we not just focus on everything bad. This was a good article! I appreciate the rational and fact based approach.
What is horrible and inadmissible is how we treat animals, PETA is doing a great job in showing the ugly truth, like it or not… Vegans or PETA are not the ones out of their minds, we are…and many people are taking their campaigns out of context …. Skip to content. What do PETA say about themselves? Many of their campaigns are sexist Following on from their campaigns going too far, some of their campaigns can also be viewed as sexist. Are people justified to hate PETA? Previous Post Sky Lanterns. So anti PETA news stories or painting them as evil might just be put out there as propaganda.
I mean Stealing cats and dogs off porches?? Just WTF? I thought the same I have read a lot of shit talk about them and but also explanations by their part that sounded pretty plausible Does anybody know an objective source that can tell me what's what with this whole PETA conspiracy? I don't know what to believe anymore. This should come with a warning bored panda. Really wasn't trying to see dead dogs, really disturbing : Rest In Peace all of you good boys and girls.
I know this is unpleasant and a bummer, especially for an entertainment site, but I wish everybody was fully aware of the absurdity and criminal nature of PETA. When I was young, I wanted to join them because I thought they stood for actually protecting animals, but they don't. They're just horrible. You're right. I have always thought peta was a bit off. I was rescuing some pet store lizards that were being abused and trying to find them homes, and they didn't give a flying poop.
From that day on I really disliked them, but this proof is so much more for me to dislike them with. SO sad. If you read the article there were "TW" trigger warnings for each image explaining what you would see. Thanks for that - I had no idea what TW meant. So not much of a warning for me - not that I needed one. Have to admit I "skimmed" some of the pics and didn't look too closely. But - PETA use this shocking pictorial language in the same way to spread their hate, seems only appropriate to use the same language on them.
They are the only group I have blocked on my Social Media, so even if friends share it, I don't see it. Sick of their lies. You saw an article with PETA in the headline and you were not expecting to see dead dogs and other animals???
Honestly, what did you think you were going to see? Or did you just click this knowing you would be triggered so you could write the comment. Omg, sensible much? Does it hurt your liberal heart to see the truth? Grow a pair. For an organization which claims to be all about reducing animal suffering, wishing a devastating disease on an animal population raises a lot of question marks. For the more moderate side of the organization, this is simply an exercise of raising awareness. But for the more extreme members, things are taken quite literally.
PETA started out by helping launch the first police investigation into animal cruelty in research facilities. It was a much-needed conversation that society needed to have.
The Silver Spring Monkeys, as the case came to be called, made headlines. No doubt, PETA has done significant good in their activity. Their investigations were, at times, true milestones for animal rights awareness. Over the time this article was written, we also uncovered several smear campaigns directed against PETA itself and several baseless allegations have been made against the organization.
PETA does not routinely kidnap pets nor is it a terrorist organization, and it has been attacked by astroturf organizations from the junk food industry. However, this does not justify unethical, inhumane, and often baseless behavior.
PETA is a very influential organization — but they are also one of the most extreme ones. They thrive from notoriety and shock and show surprisingly few projects directly helping animals. For all its talk, PETA seems more enamored with seeing itself on the news than actually helping animals. PETA tries to elicit emotions and brute force a societal change — but while they are effective at raising awareness, these methods can also be very counter-productive.
After all, notoriety can only get you so far; when you shed your morals, results cannot truly be on the positive side. For better or for worse, PETA does not represent the mainstream approach and practice to protecting animal rights, nor does it have a science-based position. Often times, PETA seems more like a religious cult than an animal rights organization.
Also, PETA has fallen to the dark side more than a couple of times. They have shown that they are willing to throw anything — and anyone — under the bus to achieve their goals. Despite its undeniable contribution to animal rights awareness, PETA has a surprising number of skeletons in its closet, and it seems proud of those skeletons. From killing healthy pets to save them of suffering to supporting eco-terrorism and misleading, unscientific campaigns, PETA is shrouded in a dark cloud of systematic controversy.
