The day is now similar to most motorsport weekends, as the final practice is accompanied by the a pit stop contest, a support race, and a concert. From to , Carb Day was held the Thursday before the race. It was moved to Friday before the race beginning in , at which time the Indy Lights race was moved to that day.
Prior to , Carb Day was not on a fixed day of the week, instead it was simply scheduled for a nondescript day midway between the final day of time trials and race day, and was sometimes closed to the public. Kids 15 and under are free with adult ticketholder.
