More often than not, multiple people in the same household have an Amazon account. Think of it this way. You probably have an account and your spouse most likely had an account of their own when you met them. There are benefits to this, to be sure.
For one thing, each account holder has the opportunity to create a list where they can save their favorite products in order to purchase them later on. There is also a comprehensive purchase history available. This allows you to easily go back and purchase things like lotion or hand sanitizer that you might be buying again and again. This might seem frustrating at first, but there are multiple benefits to each person having their own account, as listed in the paragraph above.
According to Amazon, it provides for better customer service. Even if you largely use Amazon only to make purchases, the same thing still applies. It takes a lot longer to order something if you are reordering from a previously purchased list when you have to sift through everything else that other people in your house I have also ordered.
While you cannot merge accounts, it is possible for you to link accounts so that all of the accounts inside your household show up on a single dashboard. All you have to do is log in to your Amazon account and look at the menu in the top right-hand corner. Click on that pull down menu and then look where it says link accounts.
Click on that option and you will then be prompted to select either an adult account or a teen account, depending on who is in your household and who you want to link to your own account. An Amazon account is permanently attached to one email address and phone number and can never be merged with another account associated with other contact information. You and a spouse, partner, friend, or relative can share an account, but you can't blend accounts together.
With an Amazon Household plan, however, multiple people can enjoy the benefits of Amazon's vast offerings by sharing Prime shipping benefits, video, music, and book content, and other offers and features.
An Amazon Household can include two adults each with their own separate Amazon account and multiple kids who can use an Amazon profile linked to an adult account — children do not need to have their own accounts. An Amazon Household account can be shared between 10 people, including two adults, up to four teenagers under 18 , and up to four younger children. On the next page, find the box with the subject line "Shopping programs and rentals" and click the " Amazon Household " link under it.
Adults must have their own Amazon account, whereas teens and kids can be added as new profiles to an existing account. Teens using Amazon Household can shop on the site, but all purchases must be approved via a text sent to the adult account holders.
